Forming a strong backbone from which to project some of the most progressive and captivating dubstep and beyond with a slew of unparalleled releases, LSN forges a heart shaped space in our weird and wonky minds with part 1 of the ‘Control’ EP. The three track offers a pleasant surprise to the ear, offering a harder take on the groups diverse range of style, enriching an ethereal and innocent aura with an infectiously rough edge.
Resonating fiercely through a merciless synth line that seems to melt out of the monitors, ‘Creative’ grabs our attention and keeps us locked in with semi-unrecognizable vocal stabs. The pure sonic persona of the tune is what hooks us from the beginning, like candy to the hungry audiophile, while a steady beat and sharply snapping snare act as the snake charmer bringing it to life.
‘Formulas’ hones in on a vintage flair through it’s radio transmission-esque vocal and humming drones, while the distinctly gripping percussion and bass busting sub that underlies the groups work provides an ever-indulgent underground flavour.
Dripping in all the right places, ‘Mofockers’ comes through easily as an expert study in the use of space and finely selected sounds. Electric reeses are accented delicately with these, each specific effect a celebration in itself, while the groove of it’s composure and attitude ridden yet sparsely used vocal are the dash of spice that makes it a truly unique and dance-crushing piece.
